16 things we loved this weekend: Shaqiri, Ronaldo, Brereton and more

The group stage of Euro 2020 is drawing to a close, and on Saturday the three-game-one-day stage went off in style with a six-goal thriller between Germany and Portugal.

There was also plenty of entertainment to be found in the Copa America, and although England’s draw between England and Scotland at Wembley on Friday night did not live up to the hype, it turned out to be a tough and competitive match.

Here’s our roundup of the weekend’s best stocks.

Stephen O’Donnell

A great twist on the dark arts.

Billy Gilmour

Man of the Match on his full FA Cup, Premier League, Champions League and international debut. Some players.

Ben Brereton

More guys from Stoke in the Copa America, please.

Thierry Henry

Come for Henry, stay for Romelu Lukaku’s reaction.

Cristiano Ronaldo

Rudiger should have retired immediately after that.

Xherdan Shaqiri

Who knew he had his right foot?

Attila Fiola

Big goal, even better celebration.

Renato Sanches

He would have been a contender for the tournament goal if he had entered.

Robin goelsens

One goal and two assists from the Atalanta man. Euro performance so far?

Alexandre isak

It is a body.

Lucas Covolan

Someone took notes of Alisson …

Welcome to 72. Can we see Jeff Stelling’s reaction, please?

Manuel Locatelli

The man of the moment does not tolerate any stupidity.

Memphis depay

Fair play for him. Either way, you can’t imagine it will be boring.

Allvaro García

That’s how we score in a play-off final.

Jakob Glesnes

Choose that one.
