AFI to issue new UIDs to athletes | Kanpur News


Kanpur: The Athletics Federation of India (AFI) has removed all old Unique Identification Numbers (UIDs) and will issue new ones to their athletes after re-registration. It will charge Rs 500 for registration and issuance of UID number.
At its annual general meeting here on Sunday, the Uttar Pradesh Athletics Association (UPAA) also decided to follow AFI’s guidelines and will charge Rs 150 for each athlete’s registration. Rs 50 will be sent to the athlete‘s district and the remaining Rs 100 will be kept by the UPAA, Honorary Secretary General PK Srivastava said.
UPAA will follow AFI guidelines on the issue of age and district and state units should ensure that athletes over age are not sent to compete in any event.
In another decision, all registrations would now be accepted online. There would be no offline or on-site registration for any meeting and no one can participate without registration.
In another decision, it was decided that since AFI charges Rs 1,000-1,200 per event for each athlete, UPAA would charge Rs 500 in the under 18, 20, 23 and men and women groups and Rs 300 per event in groups under 16. Age groups under 10 and 12 are free, he added.
For district athletic associations, it is mandatory to organize district meetings for all age groups. District associations will send athlete entries to state competitions that reach the level set by the UPAA.
In addition, he also decided to organize a one-day competition of selected events in each district. The selected events are the 400m, the relay and the mixed relay, the long jump, the triple jump, the javelin throw, 20, 35 and 50 km walk.
Srivastava informed that technical officials would wear uniforms according to their status at district and state meetings. A two-member committee made up of Rajan Bhatia and Nidhi Singh will come up with the design and color scheme of the uniform.
Rachna Govil had been appointed associate vice president of UPAA, Srivastava said.
The meeting was chaired by UPAA President Kunwar Fateh Bahadur.
