GRAND JUNCTION, Colo. (KKCO) – Peyton Brock is our first athlete of the week this school year. Peyton is in his final year at Grand Junction High School, and he’s really impressed the coaches so far in training camp. He will lead the Tigers’ offense this year, with coach Landon McKee recently appointing Peyton as a starting quarterback.
“Peyton has done a great job starting to take the reins of this offense, learning it and improving as it goes,” said McKee. “He really stands up to meet our expectations, and we have high expectations as a staff.”
Coach McKee says the most important trait in a quarterback is leadership. As a starting and senior QB, Peyton Brock will take on a dual leadership role and he is up to the challenge.
“I was a little shy in middle school and high school,” Brock recalls. “Then I started to meet all my friends on the football team, got to know them, got more social and I became the leader.”
His goals this year are to have fun, stay healthy and prove himself to his teammates. The Tigers also have a whole new coaching staff this year, and Peyton says it’s actually been a blessing in disguise. He stressed the importance of a good relationship between the quarterbacks and their head coach.
“These coaches are committed to us and I am committed to them,” says Peyton. Coach McKee agreed, adding: “He’s been able to take a lot of the training and the criticism, to do his best and improve, and help the team come to fruition. also improve. “
