Jammu, Dec 25 (UNI) The Border Security Force, Jammu Frontier, on Saturday motivated border farmers to cultivate before closing along the international border in the Ranbir Singh Pura area here.
“BSF Jammu today organized a visit of farmers from the border area to the Grant border outpost to motivate them to cultivate before the border fence,” said Deputy Inspector General SPS Sandhu, in charge. of Public Relations, BSF Jammu Frontier.
Notably, India and Pakistan have agreed on “strict observance of all agreements, understandings and ceasefires along the LoC and all other sectors” from February 25.
Samba Agricultural Director Sanjay Verma along with 73 farmers visited BOP Octroi and visited farmland cultivated in front of the fence under the AOR of BOP Octroi with the aim of motivating and encouraging them to cultivate land in front of the fence at Samba.
DIG Jammu, Surjeet Singh Sekhon was instrumental in organizing the farmer visit.
During the day, the group of farmers were also taken to the Makwal area to visit the cultivated agriculture located in front of the border fence, the PRO said.
He said that a lunch was also organized for the farmers and administration officials and that they also attended the retirement parade ceremony in Octroi.
“BSF Jammu has helped encourage border farmers to cultivate land before BSF closure with the help of the UT government,” he said.
BSF Jammu has always strived to assist and help the border population in any way possible, he said.
