Sioux City, Iowa – The Dakota Wesleyan fight wraps up the second GPAC meeting of the year with six individual wins as the team dropped both duels.
How did it happen
The Tigers started against Midland, earning a forfeit victory at 133 for Darien Malone earning DWU six team points. Jared Harris followed that up with an 8-2 141 decision win over Warriors wrestler Mario Martinez as the Tigers led 9-0. The final win in the opener at Sioux City came from Kaleb Bigelow at 165 for three team points in an 8-4 decision victory. The Dakota Wesleyan fight dropped the first duel of the day 22-12 against Midland.
Dakota Wesleyan picked up two individual wins in the second duel of the day; against Doane while having three open classes at 125, 184 and 285. Malone stayed perfect that day earning his second 8-3 decision win over Doane’s Russell Nickerson. Bigelow also stayed perfect that day, earning his second 14-7 decision victory over Benjamin Dobler at 165.
The Dakota Wesleyan fight is back in action on Saturday, February 5 for a senior matchup against York. The Tigers and Panthers kick off senior day activities at 4:40 p.m., with Game 1 beginning at 5 p.m. at the Christen Athletic Center.
