National sports betting championships
The contest started two years ago in New Jersey and was limited to Garden State players. The implications of COVID-19 postponed the event last year, and the return of 2021 is unfolding in the national DraftKings betting landscape.
As of the end of last week, multi-jurisdictional approval has swept across the ground for up to 11 states, according to Johnny Avello, director of racing and sports betting operations for DK.
Besides New Jersey, the domain is open to punters in:
- New Hampshire
- West Virginia
Those who want to enter must send an email [email protected] in order to participate.
“We are delighted,” said Avello The lines after approval of additional statements. “We now have a real national competition which was our intention when we started it. Fortunately, the states gave us their agreement with a little time to promote it. What could be nicer for a player than that, not only to win a lot of money, but to be known as the best handicapper with the best strategy in a national competition? “
There are two main forms of participation. One lives in New Jersey. The hotel will have a designated room which will have the appearance of a live bookie. The second is to bet in one of the approved states through a portal set up in the DraftKings Sportsbook app.

Regulations of the national sports betting championship
Each participant will be assigned a designated tournament account.
Each participant’s $ 10,000 entry fee puts $ 4,500 in the prize pool and $ 5,000 in a gambling bankroll. Players with the highest funds at the end of the tournament will split the leaderboard prizes. All players win their final bankroll.
There is no bet in the game. But pretty much everything else goes: teases, props, parlays, alternate lines, a slam on a chalk or a multi-team Hail Mary.
Participants on the site will enjoy a sports betting sensation. But there are no counters. All bets must be placed on his device.
2019 participants will notice some differences this year. Hockey has been eliminated. Going forward, however, Avello predicts that many individual sports may have their own version of a competition like this.
Participants can place bets between 6:00 p.m. on Friday November 5 and 1:00 p.m. on Sunday November 7. Bets can cover the last action of November 7th.
The final NFL game between the Tennessee Titans and the Los Angeles Rams begins at 8:20 p.m. ET. The last NBA kickoff is between the Los Angeles Clippers and Charlotte Hornets at 9 p.m. ET, but bets must be made several hours in advance, before 1 p.m. In 2019, bets could be placed until the final match.
With a wider field being conducted in many states, however, Avello said this year’s deadline allows bets to be dealt with efficiently. Betting until the last second in a multi-state event, for example, could pose problems as to whether bets were made on time. Imagine a software glitch affecting some states and not others, for example, on bets made a few seconds before the start of the final event.
National Sports Betting Championship Strategy
Avello, who will be traveling from Las Vegas to New Jersey to help organize the contest, wants to see how players are approaching this tournament.
“The strategies will be interesting to watch,” said Avello. “This will be the way you need to get there to beat the peloton. There are so many different ways that players can follow. Are you trying to build up a bankroll and then take 40, 50, or 60,000,000 and unload it all on one play? “
“You have to bet what you know. There aren’t many events. Are you strong in all three sports or do you need to focus more on one of them? How much do you have to go through? ”
Avello noticed an interesting move related to players watching the standings two years ago. It was the game equivalent of trying to work the clock.
“After the first night of competition a few years ago, a few people had $ 20,000,” Avello said. “They were waiting to see who would catch up with them at this level or would they be able to stay on top. They were hanging around, hoping they had done enough and all of a sudden several people passed them and they had to come back in the game.
With the new wagering deadline, players will no longer be able to stay ahead. They may have to press the action to the end.
“We’re going to learn a lot about this betting format from this tournament,” added Avello. “It will be interesting to see how the players approach it. If you’re in the lead, you can’t wait until the last minute. You have to make your bets. If you are very late, maybe you try a bet on the same game, try to connect a teammate with six or seven with a bet of $ 500. There will be all kinds of strategies.
The winner also qualifies for the Tournament of Champions, which will be announced later in 2022. This event will bring together winners from the DFS, Sportsbook and Casino realms to compete for a top prize of $ 1 million.
