Five Things Presented by Children’s Mercy Sports Medicine Center: Sporting seek first win at Q2 Stadium against Austin FC | August 13, 2022

Sporting Kansas City hit the road for a game against Austin FC at Q2 Stadium on Saturday. The first kick will take place at 8 p.m. CT on 38 The Spot starting half an hour before with the Sporting KC Pregame Show.

Saturday will be Sporting’s second ever game at the Q2 stadium after suffering a 3-1 defeat at the year-old football stadium last season. Austin, who currently sits second in the West, has been tough at home in spurts this season. They opened the season with back-to-back wins scoring five goals in each game, but have only won three of their last nine home games at Q2 Stadium.

Here are five things to watch out for in the game between Sporting Kansas City and Austin FC.

In the third and final showing of a three-game home streak, Sporting KC lit up LA Galaxy for four goals, scoring three in the first half. The victory ended a losing streak and produced some of the best individual performances of the season for Sporting KC. Midfielder Erik Thommy scored his first goal for Sporting KC and named it the AT&T Goal of the Week. Striker Willy Agada netted a brace in the first, opening his Sporting KC goalscoring account and giving all SKC fans a memorable celebration. Striker Daniel Salloi scored three goals, providing two assists and sealing the game with his second-half stoppage time score. Sporting will build on the momentum of that win in Austin, looking to even the streak at two wins a play in Game 5.
