Sir Christopher Meyer, former British Ambassador to the United States, said France felt both humiliated and furious at the trade deal between the United Kingdom, the United States and Australia. This new military deal will see the US and UK share their ability to build nuclear-powered submarines. This means France is losing a billion dollar contract to supply Australia with nuclear submarines.

Australia has canceled the order for French submarine technology in favor of this new alliance.

Speaking on LBC, Sir Christopher asserted that the United States was more concerned with strengthening its relations with the United Kingdom than those with France.

He added that there were issues between the UK and the US due to the withdrawal from Afghanistan and some Brexit-related trade issues.

“The French who have been totally humiliated and who are raging in Paris.

“Remember that Joe Biden behaved badly towards the UK by organizing the evacuation of Kabul.

“We were the second largest contributor to the military effort in Afghanistan.

“We were a member of NATO, NATO was there and Biden did not consult any of the allies or even tell them.

“How to calm the French, if they can be calmed down, I doubt it on a realistic timescale.

“Will all Americans help us as president to achieve a positive outcome at the environmental summit.

“May Biden please Nancy Pelosi, Speaker of the House of Representatives, that the threat of the Northern Ireland peace deal does not come from us.

“It comes from the Northern Ireland Protocol disease which has inflamed many Protestants.”
