Generals win ODAC preview; Best individual rider Molinaro


BRIDGEWATER, Virginia – Second year Elise Molinaro (East Stroudsburg, PA / East Stroudsburg South) won first place out of 67 runners to lead the Washington and Lee women’s cross country team to first place out of seven schools during the ODAC preview hosted by Bridgewater on Saturday.

The Generals, competing with just seven runners, recorded 44 points. Mary Washington was second with 54 points and Shenandoah was third with 83 points.

On the 6 km course, Molinaro crossed the finish line in 24: 12.50, a fraction of a second ahead of second. This is the first collegiate cross-country victory for Molinaro in his fourth race only. First year Kristen clodgo (Raleigh, NC / Sanderson) took fifth place with a time of 24: 33.40.

Second year Kate barnes (Little Rock, Ark./Little Rock Christian Academy) was 10th (24: 39.10), senior Sarah hollen (Palmyra, Pa./Palmyra Area) was 13th in 24: 55.90 and in second year Kaitlyn hollar (Aurora, Ill./West Aurora) completed the scoring in 15th (25: 05.10). W&L had a spread of 52.60 in its Top 5.

The Generals will then face off at the Gettysburg Invitational and Upstate Invitational on October 16.
