GREENSBORO, NC (WGHP) – Greensboro police officers will join this year’s Special Olympics athletes in running with the torch Monday morning.

Runners will meet at 8:15 a.m. at The Sheetz at 3941 West Market Street and begin racing at 9:00 a.m.

Athletes and officers will stop for a water break in the Greensboro College area.

All runners will wear a 2022 Law Enforcement Run t-shirt to raise awareness for athletes with intellectual disabilities.

The race will continue for approximately four miles before ending at the Greensboro Police Department.

If you are interested in participating in the race, contact Corporal S. Bruscino at (336)-430-6379 or [email protected]

Transportation will be provided to Sheetz at the end of the race.

The torch is traveling throughout the state and will finally arrive in Raleigh on June 3 where it will begin the 2022 Special Olympics Summer Games.
