Haryana to host national fencing competition


Haryana Chief Minister Manohar Lal Khattar said on Wednesday that the national fencing competition will be held this year in Sonipat.

Making the announcement during his visit to Gurugram today, the CM said it is the result of Haryana’s continued advancements in sport and the state’s recognition as a sports center that the competition of he fencing will be organized at Sonipat.

On this occasion, Khattar also launched the contest mascot “Shyamu” and also released the contest motto. The CM congratulated by the
Haryana Fencing Association. The General Secretary of the Indian Olympic Association, Rajeev Mehta, the Vice President of the Indian Fencing Federation, Surekha Khatri, President, Haryana Fencing Association, NK Solanki, the Vice Presidents, VK Beniwal and Jitendra Jaglan and the International fencing coach Ashok Khatri were also present on this occasion.

An official spokesperson said the Haryana players consistently shine nationally and internationally and bring laurels to the state and the country.

“Haryana’s sports policy has also been continuously praised. Thanks to all these efforts, Haryana has developed as a hub of sport. Therefore, this time Haryana has the opportunity to host the Khelo India Youth Games and now the national fencing competition will also be held in Haryana, ”added the spokesperson.
