‘I don’t care about winning MVP’: Giannis Antetokounmpo thinks chasing after individual awards keeps you from reaching your full potential


Defending NBA champion and Finals MVP Giannis Antetokounmpo isn’t interested in individual accolades like MVP and scoring.

With just a few games left in the season, the Milwaukee Bucks are considered the top contenders for the season after being ignored most of the time. Giannis Antetokounmpo’s game has only gotten better, with the Greek Freak developing a mid-range game and improving his FT shooting.

Giannis and co have been late, beating top contenders like the Sixers, Nets and Celtics. The Greek Freak is having a phenomenal season, improving different facets of his game. Giannis is one of the top contenders for MVP and scorer this season.

The Bucks superstar fills out the stat sheet, averaging the following numbers 29.9 PPG, 11.6 RPG, 5.8 APG and 1.4 BPG. Giannis is an impressive 55.3% from the field, including 41.6% from the mid-range. Nevertheless, the six-time All-Star is not looking for individual accolades.

Recently, Giannis revealed that chasing accolades like MVP and scoring is holding him back and preventing him from reaching his full potential.

The big man era is back in the NBA, with Giannis and Nikola Jokic winning MVP titles for the past three seasons. This year is no different, with the top 3 contenders being Giannis, Joker, and Embiid.

The Greek Freak is one of the top 5 scorers in the league. However, the former DPOY is not pursuing these awards and said the following.

“It holds you back. You don’t reach your full potential when you worry about the wrong things. I don’t care about winning the MVP.

Having earned almost every accolade in the NBA book, Giannis looks at the big picture. The double MVP wants to cement a legacy and establish himself as one of the greatest. As Shaquille O’Neal recently stated, we could consider the best player after LeBron James.

The Bucks superstar also got his flowers from Kevin Durant and Michael Jordan.
