Lady Hornets scores a few individual victories and wins a second duel in four games
Fulton was able to win his second duel of the season 9-0 (Battle loses No.5-6 singles and No.3 doubles) in a Friday clash with Battle while losing 8-1 in doubles Thursday, Monday and Tuesday against Boonville, Mexico and the capital.
The double victory against Battle (0-6) is the Lady Hornets’ first since their 4-0 victory on September 11 against Lexington.
Prior to that Thursday, Fulton (2-11-1, 0-5 NCMC) had lost to Boonville (5-3) with her only victory in a doubles match between senior Teresa Hinchie and junior Maelynn Kramer.
The Lady Hornets returned home on Friday for a duel against Battle, three of which won their first singles matches. Kramer, junior Tori Hays and rookie Marwa Sherzad each took one victory while Hinchie took her second and junior Jayna Davison won the fifth. Davison and Hays and Hinchie and Kramer were the Fulton pairs to claim doubles wins in the duel.
Fulton would stay at home for Monday’s duel and lose to their conference opponent, Mexico (7-3). The Lady Hornets only collected one team point despite several close games, but sophomore Kier Henderson won his first college singles game.
The Lady Hornets would play at home on Tuesday against Capital City (10-2) and lose 8-1. Henderson won his second college game in as many duels.
Fulton will play in conference again at 4 p.m. today in Kirksville (2-6, 2-2 NCMC).
