Men’s golf travel to Bahamas for fall season finale


NASSAU, Bahamas – The Ole Miss men’s golf team are set to close their fall 2021 season in the Bahamas for the White Sands Invitational starting Friday, October 29.

Tournament program
Friday October 29 – 18 holes (Tee Rebels at 7:00 a.m. CT)
Saturday October 30 – 18 holes
Sunday October 31 – 18 holes

Jackson suber (Sr.) – Start at 7:00 am CT on hole 1

  • Tied sixth at the season opener Blessings Collegiate Invitational (73-65-72-210), career 12th top 10
  • Ranked # 11 in the PGA TOUR University Rankings
  • Named PING All-American 2020-21 Honorable Mention, becoming the 11th All-American in school history
  • 2021 First Team All-SEC and led the Rebels with an average of 71.70 strokes
  • 32nd career start, appearing in all tournaments since arriving on campus

Kye Meeks (DV) – Start at 7:00 am CT on hole 1

  • Competed in his first collegiate tournament with the Rebels at Blessings Collegiate, where he also recorded his first collegiate eagle on hole 15
  • Finished with an individual 3-1 record in the SEC Match Play Championship, which included a win over No.11-ranked Tyler Johnson of Tennessee
  • Won the prestigious Cotton States Invitational over the summer
  • Ranked # 1 rookie from Mississippi State
  • Double individual state champion in high school

Evan brown (Gr.) – Start at 7:00 am CT on hole 2

  • Finished his first career tournament with the Rebels tied for 27th at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational, recording a score of 70-76-76 to finish 6-over-per-week
  • Honorable Mention PING All-American 2020-21
  • Played in 28 tournaments and posted an academic record of 71.85 stroke average during his career at Loyola (Md.)
  • Finished the 2020-21 season at Loyola with a 70.90 stroke average, team best, another school record
  • Won two individual tournaments in his time with the Greyhounds

Brett Schell (So.) – Start at 7:00 am CT on hole 2

  • Won the first collegiate top 20 at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational (T-12th)
  • Almost set a new career low round and a total of 54 holes at Blessings, finishing short of both by one stroke (71-70-73-214)
  • Won the Rebels’ match play victory over Auburn in the first round of the SEC Match Play Championships with a birdie of 18 to win their 1-up match
  • Recorded an average of 74.19 strokes last year, his first season competing for Ole Miss
  • Begins 11th career with the Rebels

Jack Gnam (Sr.) – Start at 7:00 am CT on hole 3

  • Average of 73.17 strokes during the 2020-21 season, placing second on the team
  • Had his best result of the 2020-21 campaign at Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate, where he finished tied for 11th with a total of 54 holes (65-70-70-205), the lowest in his career.
  • His 65 (-6) first round at Vanderbilt Legends Collegiate 2020 was a career low
  • Appearing in his 25th tournament as Rebel
  • Played in eight tournaments in each of his first three seasons on campus


Cecil wegener – Departure at 7:00 am CT at hole 18

  • Competed in four tournaments during the 2020-21 season, twice in the Rebel roster and twice in individual
  • 2017-18 SEC All Freshman Team
  • Has an average of 73.73 career strokes in his 27 tournament appearances
  • Has a career tournament victory, the 2019 All-American Intercollegiate
  • Was named to the SEC Academic Honor Roll every four years at Ole Miss

This 18-hole par 72 championship course stretches 7,100 yards across Atlantis, the Paradise Island Oceanside Peninsula, where crosswinds challenge even the most experienced players.

Rebels enter Golfstat’s Top 10
After a good start to the fall season, Ole Miss rose to the top 10 Golfstat rankings. The Rebels found themselves in 8th place nationally, having finished third at the Blessings Collegiate Invitational as well as a good game in the SEC Match Play Championship.

Suber ranks 12th in the PGA TOUR University Rankings
Senior Jackson suber placed 12th in the PGA TOUR University’s most recent Velocity World Rankings. Suber has managed to maintain his leading spot in the most recent rankings with a sixth place finish at the Blessing Collegiate Invitational earlier this month, his 12th Top 10 of his career. At the end of the season, the top five in the Velocity World Rankings will earn their Korn Ferry Tour membership. Players who finish between sixth and fifteenth place will earn their PGA TOUR International Tour Membership.

Meeks shines at SEC Match Play Championship
In his first taste of college golf match play, Kye Meeks did not disappoint the Rebels at the SEC Match Play Championship in Birmingham. The newborn of the Red Shirts finished with an individual record of 3-1 over the week. One of Meeks’ three match play wins came on Day 2 of the tournament, in which he managed to defeat Tyler Johnson of Tennessee, who is currently the nation’s No.11 ranked golfer according to Golfstat.

Pair of Crack Rebels in Golfweek’s Top 50
Two golfers from the Ole Miss Men’s Golf Team found themselves in the top 50 of Golfweek’s latest collegiate rankings on Thursday. Senior Jackson suber led the charge by earning 11th place in the country, while the second Brett Schell climbed to 42nd place in the general classification.

Next off the tee
With their tournament in Nassau marking the end of the fall 2021 season, the Rebels are entering their winter break with their next tournament on February 13 for the Puerto Rico Intercollegiate, kicking off what will be a season. spring of five tournaments which will come to an end. with the SEC Championships starting April 20, 2022.
