A WOMAN has expressed her frustration after her neighbor erected a 6ft fence in her garden – blocking out all her light.

The anonymous woman took Mumsnet where she wrote a post captioned: “For not wanting to watch a fucking fence all day!”

She explained how she lives in a terraced house owned by the local housing association.

“The front gardens are tiny and quite close together, not ideal for privacy but that’s how it is,” the woman wrote.

Anyway, I came home today to find that the next door neighbor had added a new fence over the fence that was already there (was 3ft and now is 6ft ) all around his garden, including the fence that separates my garden from his.”

The annoyed woman said her neighbor told her nothing about doing it – adding that it was the first time she had known.

“It’s a fucking monstrosity!” she explained.

Not only does it block out all the light from my front yard, but it looks awful (its side is all nice and the painted side of mine is a mess with random nails sticking out).”

“It means my kids won’t be able to play in the main driveway anymore because I could see them all the time from my window when now all I can see from my living room window is her fucking fence.”

She went on to say that on top of that, it’s a danger because of the nails sticking to her side.

“My children won’t even be safe in their own garden,” she fumed.

“I can’t believe she did this without even saying a word. The neighbors on the other side of her are also furious for the same reasons.”

The woman concluded by asking if she wouldn’t be able to go out and take it all apart – and the responses were mixed.

“At the very least they should be able to get it to make it safe for you,” one wrote.

A second commented: ‘Front fences are not allowed to be as high as 6ft due to visibility issues. But I don’t know who you would talk to about this.’

Maybe phone planning or council to see who they suggest talking too.”

A third wrote: “We had the same problem – not HA, but on a terrace.”

We didn’t do anything ourselves, but several neighbors went to the planning office and within a week the fence was gone…”

Meanwhile, a fourth added: “”You would BU knock down the fence now. “

“Get together with the other neighbors and make your complaint known to the Housing Association later this morning.”
