Ocean Wave Quilters Hosts Annual ‘On The Fence’ Show – Fort Bragg Advocate-News


FORT BRAGG – The Ocean Wave Quilters and Soroptimist International of Noyo Sunrise hosted their 25th Annual Quilt Show on Saturday June 26th. Due to the pandemic, clubs have been unable to host their traditional two-day indoor show for the past two years. . But, creative minds and hands worked together to put on an “On the Fence” show to bring joy to the local community.

Proceeds from this show help the two non-profit clubs provide scholarships and quilts to our community.

The show was free and included 100 quilts held on the fence at Bainbridge Park in Fort Bragg, next to the Veterans Building. The 2021 opportunity quilts were drawn at 4 p.m. One winner was local and one winner was from Auburn, California.

The theme of this year’s show was “Coastal Wonders”.

Mark your calendars for the last weekend of June for the 2022 trade show. Buy raffle tickets for the Opportunity 2022 quilts from one of the members of both clubs. The “Sew Whimsical” quilts on display all year round.

The Ocean Wave Quilters also recently donated a quilt to Jug Handle Creek Farm for display in their Bunkhouse. The quilt’s center fabric panel was donated by Sew ‘n Sew Fabrics. The quilt was designed and made by Sharon Gieras, Dee Goodrich and Sharon Lau. Helene Chalfin, Founder and Director of Jug Handle’s Native Plant Restoration / Education Nursery accepted the quilt.

Jug Handle will be holding a native plant sale at the nursery, located at 15501 Highway 1 in Caspar on July 11 from noon to 5 p.m.
