Professional rodeo athlete signs with Monument Health

RAPID CITY, SD – Monument Health on Tuesday signed a sponsorship agreement with professional rodeo athlete Rickie Engess.

Engesser has been practicing rodeo since the age of five.

In fact, she had a brilliant rodeo career at Spearfish High School and she also qualified four times for the College National Finals Rodeo.

Engesser recently graduated from college and now participates in the Women’s Professional Rodeo Association in the lasso breakaway.

She is currently 36th in the world ranking in lasso breakaway and 18th on the Badlands circuit.

Since the rodeo is a rigorous sport, Engesser says working with staff at the Monument Health Sports Performance Institute will help him prepare physically and mentally for each rodeo.

“It’s huge to have the support of these guys and to have them at our disposal behind us,” said Rickie Engesser. “Just being able to have these people around and get involved in the rodeo. This is a huge opportunity for us and for them. And just having that deal is awesome.

“Well, we are always honored to help another local athlete achieve her best performance.e and help him grow and advance in his professional rodeo career, ”said Jim Rix, director of athletic medicine for Monument Health Southern Hills. “So it’s always a great opportunity to help a local athlete achieve better results and improve their performance both physically and psychologically and to help them achieve bigger and better things in the world of sport. “
