14 years old Iris Kim of Scarlet Aquatics had the fastest times in five 13-14 age events at the Junior Olympics. Kim kicked off the competition losing more than nine seconds in the 1,000 freestyle to win in 10:03.65. That time she got her first Winter Juniors cup. She continued her freestyle dominance by winning the 500m freestyle with a best time of 4:55.21. This time was more than two seconds faster than his previous record.
She finished second in the 200 freestyle (1:52.36) just behind her best (1:51.38) as she clocked 1:51.66 in the preliminaries. She won the 100 freestyle in 52.22 but led the 400 freestyle relay even faster with a best time of 51.67.
She also had the best times in the 100 (58.16) and 200 (2:03.33) backstroke. She finished first in the 100m and second in the 200m.
13 years Brandon Anand of Scarlet Aquatics was dominant on the boys side of the 13-14 portion of the competition. Anand won the 1,000 freestyle with a best time of over 13 seconds swimming in 9:37.59. He also won the 500 freestyle in 4:42.46, a best time of over seven seconds. Rounding out his freestyle victories was the 200m freestyle where he clocked a best time of 1:46.42. Anand also won the 100 breaststroke with a best time of 59.26.
Kate Hurst (16) of Scarlet Aquatics won the 15m freestyle and over with a best time of 9:49.61. She also won the 500m freestyle with a best time of 4:47.87 and the 200m freestyle with a time of 1:51.87. In addition, she set a best time in the 400m individual medley winning the event in 4:21.94.
17 years Steven Bendoraitis of Scarlet Aquatics won the 100m freestyle with a best time of 9:08.65. He also won the 500 freestyle with a best time of 4:29.22. 15 years old Richard Poplawski from Scarlet Aquatics has also won several 15+ events. Poplawski won the 200 butterfly (1:50.59), 200 freestyle (1:39.50) and 100 butterfly (49.61).
