OXFORD, miss – Former golfer of Ole Miss Kennedy swann came closer to her dream of playing on the LPGA Tour this weekend.
Swann competed in the first leg of the LPGA Tour Q-School in California and finished tied for 16th at 7 below par. The Austin, Texas native used a final round of 67 to earn 21 spots and secure her place in the LPGA Q-School Stage II.
The top 95 players advanced to the second leg of qualifying school, which takes place October 21-24 at Plantation Golf and Country Club in Venice, Florida. Swann achieved partial status on the Symetra Tour for the 2022 season advancing.
Swann finished the 2020-21 season averaging 72.68 strokes after appearing in every tournament for the domestic champions. She tied for second on the team with seven top 20s last season, including a co-medalist who competed in the prestigious East Lake Cup in October.
Swann, who used his fifth year of eligibility to come back and pursue his MBA, finished the season 27th in Golfweek’s individual college rankings. She was Ole Miss’s selection to get an exemption for the LPGA Classic Marathon.
She finished a perfect 3-0 match play at the NCAA Championship, including a 2 & 1 victory over the nation’s No.4 varsity player, Maja Stark.
