The North Texas women’s golf team will return to competition as Mean Green heads north to the Red River for the second consecutive tournament.

THE EVENT: Cedar Ridge Country The club will play on a par 72 course at 6,233 yards. The teams will play 36 holes on Monday and conclude the tournament with the final 18 holes on Tuesday. Each day will begin with a gunshot at 8:30 a.m.

FIELD: There are 13 teams participating in the tournament: Boise State, BYU, James Madison, Kansas State, Middle Tennessee, Nebraska, North Texas, Oral Roberts, Sacramento State, Sam Houston State, Tulsa, USF and UTSA, as well as individuals from the ‘Oklahoma. State.

UNT REPRESENTATIVE: The competition for the Mean Green will be Audrey Tan, Patricia Sinolungan, Mason Lewis, Shreya Pal and Sakura Sugiyama. Ellie Roth will play individually. Lewis will make her roster debut after earning C-USA Golfer of the Week honors last week after competing as an individual in the OU Schooner Fall Classic.

ASCEND : North Texas has made significant progress since head coach Michael Akers took over seven years ago. The Mean Greens were ranked No. 201 after the 2015-16 season, and since Akers joined Denton, UNT has climbed more than 150 places since that time. The Mean Greens are now consistently ranked in the national top 50.

THE GOAT: Lauren Cox, who graduated in the spring of 2021 to complete her stellar five-year career in Mean Green, was granted partial status on the Epson Tour for the 2022 season, and is currently on staff as an assistant coach. volunteer.

NEXT: The Mean Green will travel to Cabo San Lucas, Mexico to perform in Battle at the Beach, hosted by TCU, from October 28-30.
